“A day without laughter is a day wasted.” – Charlie Chaplin

When was the last time you laughed?

Do you love to laugh and spread happiness?

But sometimes we get so occupied with work and anxiety that we forget this important jaw exercise that is not just helping us in our mental healths but also physical healths to an extent.

It is a therapy that is also added in Yoga that we say laughter yoga where a bunch of people gather, usually in the morning, and laugh wholeheartedly with arms open to invite more positivity into their heart and cells.

Laughter has an effect on your mind and body much more than you think.

Have you seen people turning red while they laugh? It’s because laughter increases your blood flow by approximately 50 percent thereby normalizing blood pressure. Our blood becomes highly oxygenated during that time.

Laughter also helps in combating diseases. It encourages the production of antibodies made to fight diseases, including cancer. And till now we had been thinking that laughter is just an expression.

Maybe that is the reason we’ve always read that, “Laughter is the best medicine.

One more interesting thing is that fake laughter is as effective as the real one, because the body cannot differentiate between the two. However while you are faking it, you might turn up into a real one.

And then laugh out loud, till your stomach starts to hurt. And do you know why that happens?

Because laughter is quite an exercise. Laughing 100 times a day is equal to doing 15 minutes on a stationary bike. If you laughed for 15 minutes a day for 5 years, you could possibly lose up to 5 pounds.

Laughter is also a form of social bonding. One must be relaxed with the surroundings in order to laugh out freely because people do not laugh with people they are not comfortable around. We also have a uniquely natural tendency to pick up on other people’s laughter when we find it in an amusing manner, like the butterfly effect. It is also a natural way to combat negative mental states and raw emotions.

Here are some ways you can start:

Smile

Smile as often as you can. You might have come across people who have a smiling face. Bring that face to yourself. Smiling is the beginning of laughter and it’s contagious. Instead of capturing yourself in useless toxic thoughts, be open to things and people around you and you will surely find something that lightens your mood and makes you smile.

When you hear laughter, move towards it

When sharing funny experiences, feed off the humor you find in it and also share your instances where humor was on its peak. People are extremely happy to share something funny because it gives them a chance to laugh all over again.

Spend time with positive and playful people

There is always one person in the gang who has all those crazy moments to share and his wit, humor and sarcasm adds to light air and everyone is happy and positive around these people. Stay with people who vibe with you and add to your happiness. Negative people might create an environment that won’t allow you to be your real self. That is the reason company matters a lot for you to be fully alive.

What are you waiting for? Laugh it out!
