I can understand the loss it brings to you and your mind. Because I have also suffered the same. There was a time where I was facing a lot of issues at my workplace, plus I had undergone health issues and I use to overthink every time about the issues that were ongoing. Ultimately what happened was I couldn’t work for the solution because I was always busy worrying and pondering over the issues.

Eventually, I started realizing the value of my time. I realized that there is nothing that is going to be solved by just thinking and not working. If you want things to happen, then make it happen. There is no substitute for it. By the time I realized this I was already caught by workplace politics, health issues, mental illness and lost time. But when you have to do something positive towards yourself, none of the above factors should stop you.

I realized this fact and took the driver seat of my life. No way an auto-pilot. I decided to drive my life, my way. Meanwhile, I devised some factors and solutions that would anyway help people to avoid overthinking.

Over the overthinking by these amazing methods-

Keep yourself busy

Do what you love. It may not be your professional work always, but anything that you love doing. The best part about this is that you will not get time to think anything unproductive because you’ve kept yourself busy. Remember? An empty mind is a devil’s home. Don’t make that happen. It would be a little difficult in the starting but once you’re able to divert your mind, you’ll realize that you are able to avoid negative thinking.

Value yourself

No matter what the world says, you need to value your own self. Don’t expect the others to value you if you aren’t valuing yourself first. Once you understand the meaning of self-love and self-worth, you will know how to solve each and every problem without hampering your mental peace and negative overthinking. You will know that nothing can be solved by just thinking. Because you love your mental peace so much, you’ll get into action to make that happen rather than crying over the fate or blaming someone else for your situation. ONLY YOU are responsible for yourself.

Feed yourself well

Feeding not only means the food you intake but also what you feed your mind. You are the books you read, the people you meet, the places you visit and the things you watch. Realize and understand that whatever you are going to feed is going to be positive and helpful for your mental health and wellness. If you intake negativity, the end result will also be negative thoughts and negative behavior. Feed yourself well!


Talk to people around you or the ones who are approachable. Talking to the right crowd help you a great way to avoid overthinking, only because it helps you to divert your mind. When you are busy in conversations, you often tend to get involved in their concerns, rather than pondering on your own worries that were not leaving your mind. But you should also ensure that the ears should be the right ears. Not everyone is the right person with whom you can share your issues or who can give you that positivity through which you can feel better. Always seek for people who emit happiness and positivity. Only they are worth a company.

Have foresightedness

Foresightedness is when you can visualize the future. If you have a little idea of your future you can ask yourself if the things that are worrying you now will matter to you after 5 years. If no, then it’s of no use to spend so much time and importance to a useless issue. Only if it’s important can overthinking help you to find a solution. Mostly it only hampers your mind causing you mental illness and anxiety.

Go to bed only when you’re sleepy

Among most of the cases of overthinking issues, people experience a storm of thoughts and emotions just after they go to bed. These floods of thoughts don’t allow them to have a restful sleep and peace of mind. To avoid this, it is suggested to go to bed only when you’re extremely tired or sleepy so that you don’t allow your mind to go to places and is just tired enough to sleep in a couple of minutes.

Read good books

If you’re fond of reading then probably it’s a little easier for you to get out of your negative overthinking. There are some great motivational books that help in kicking away the stress. Those books are nothing without practice though. Whatever you read, try to imbibe that in your life and behavior. Only then you’ll be able to transform your emotional quotient and manage your stress.

Realize that you cannot control everything.

While you’re trying to think issues through 50 times, it can be a way to try to control everything. To cover every eventuality, you don’t risk making a mistake, fail or looking like a fool. But those things are a part of living a life where you truly expand your comfort zone. Everyone who you may admire and have lived a life that inspires you has failed. They have made mistakes. But in most of the cases they’ve also seen these things as valuable feedback to learn from. Those things that may look negative have taught them a lot and have been invaluable to help them grow in this frantic world.

So stop trying to control everything. Trying to do so simply doesn’t work because no one can see all possible circumstances in advance.
